August 19, 2016, Oxnard, CA: The McNish Gallery at Oxnard College is very pleased to present a solo exhibit by international artist, Kaoru Hironaka. An opening reception will take place on Wednesday, August 31st, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm with an artist lecture at 4:30 pm. For this exhibition, Hironaka finds inspiration from her many travels while observing and comparing both the visible and invisible characteristics and energies of each geographic location. Implementing the process of bricolage, she will gather and fill the gallery space with paintings, drawings, sketches, photographs, and found objects while focusing her thoughts on what she refers to as “the future”.
Born in Kamakura, Japan, artist Kaoru Hironaka received her BA at Tama Art University in Tokyo, Japan. Since 2009, Hironaka has worked from two ateliers, one in the Shonan area, and another in Kobe 2009. Her works stretch over a wide range of genres from illustrations and graphic design for magazines, advertisements and CD jackets, photographic backdrops to fine art painting and live-painting.
Hironaka has exhibited at Nagi Museum of Contemporary Art, Gallery Lara Tokyo, MAKIIMASARU Fine Art (Tokyo), BankART (Yokohama), Jing Art Gallery (Shanghai), KIITO Kobe, The National Art Center, Tokyo, CASO (Osaka), Eastside International (Los Angeles), and 18th Street Arts Center, Santa Monica.
